Logan Marshall-Green Joins Carson McCullers Biopic ‘Lonely Hunter’

Friday, May 11th, 2012

From The Hollywood Reporter:
The actor’s turn as playwright Tennessee Williams will follow his appearance in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” and “Black Dog, White Dog” with Olivia Wilde and James Franco.

Logan Marshall Green is joining the cast of Lonely Hunter, a film exploring the life of Southern writer Carson McCullers. Marshall Green is set to play Tennessee Williams opposite Jena Malone’s McCullers.

Writer-director-producer Deborah Kampmeier and producer Troy Johanson of Full Moon Films made the casting announcement Tuesday. Described as “McCullers’ best friend and longtime confidant,” Williams is one of the important figures in the author’s life along with her protégé Truman Capote and roommate Gypsy Rose Lee.

Since making appearances in Across the Universe and Brooklyn’s Finest, Marshall Green’s career has grown quickly. His next major role will be as a member of the ensemble cast for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, and he is currently shooting Black Dog, White Dog with Olivia Wilde and James Franco.

In the announcement of Marshall Green’s casting, Kampmeier said of the young actor, “Logan is amazing for Tennessee Williams. People think of him as a leading man but I think he’s also a character actor in a leading man’s body. He is so talented and with his theater background and training he is perfect for the role. With such great work coming up for him we are happy he can do this.”

McCullers was the author of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and The Member of the Wedding. A novelist and playwright, she became one of the most influential writers of her time despite debilitating illness and a series of volatile relationships.

Marshall Green is represented by The Gersh Agency and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Logan Marshall-Green Lands ‘Prometheus’

Monday, March 14th, 2011

From Deadline:
Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox have tapped Logan Marshall-Green to play a lead role in Prometheus, the science fiction film that Scott next directs. Marshall-Green will play the role of Holloway, a crewman on the space ship and the love interest for the character played by Noomi Rapace. Rapace, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star, was the first castmember set by Scott. Marshall-Green most recently was seen in Devil and Brooklyn’s Finest, and did stints on The O.C. and 24. He’s repped by 3 Arts and Gersh. This was a role that a lot of young actors chased, and who wouldn’t want to be involved in Scott’s first sci-fi foray since Alien and Blade Runner?

The film also stars Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron, with Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie playing smaller roles. Shooting begins in March on a film that started as a prequel to Scott’s seminal science fiction film Alien but morphed into something else. The original script was by Jonathan Spaihts, but the most recent draft is by Damon Lindelof. Shooting begins shortly in the UK.
